Autumn & Winter Adirondack Activities
Bring a few friends or come alone if you are looking for the solitude of the hunting season in the fall. Or if it’s a winter sport that gets your blood pumping – Blue Mountain Rest intersects with private and state snowmobile trails (on-site) pointed southeast to Speculator, or southwest to Old Forge and North to Tupper Lake. Ride the groomed trails or open it up on frozen lakes….. hundreds of miles long. This is a snowmobile country. Beginner or advanced skiers & snowboarders enjoy 3 centrally located ski areas, just minutes from Blue Mountain Rest. For beginners, there is Mac Cauley Mt or Big Tupper. For intermediates, experts, and hardcore riders or skiers, Gore Mountain is just 30 minutes away. Cross-country skiers and snowshoers will wonder at the wintry vistas of the region’s Rockwell-esque snow-covered lakes. Groom trails are just across the street so you can ski in or ski out right from your room. Or slap those shoes on to see the sights. Ice fishermen have their pick of 7 lakes within 20 minutes from our door and if you are into dog sledding that is just north of Tupper Lake.
